SAT math Number and Operations - Ratios

Ratio: The relative size of two quantities expressed as the quotient of one divided by the other; the ratio of a to b is written as a:b or a/b
It is a comparison of the size of one number to the size of another number.

"70 students are in an amphitheater. The ratio of boys to girls is 3:4. How many boys are in the amphitheater "

This ratio gives you more information than just 3 to 4. You know that 3 out of 7 students are boys.

So, there are \frac{3}{7}70=30 boys in the amphitheater.

Hope these helps!!:):):)
